ABOUT ONE CENT PRODUCTIONS
Reed Penney - Production Manager/Owner
Reed Penney established One Cent Productions in 2006 to develop and produce various projects including a documentary about the life and career of the longest serving Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Sam Rayburn titled Rayburn: Mr. Speaker.
Since graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Undergraduate Film/TV program in 2003 Reed has worked in a variety of roles on different projects in the film/tv industry. Recently he has focused on production management for non-fiction film/tv projects.
Reed is based in New York City, but he has Texas roots. His 4th Great-Grandfather Samuel Reed Miller was the patriarch of a family that was part of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred, which was a group of Anglo-Americans who immigrated to Texas when it was part of Mexico in the 1820s.
Reed is a member of the Producers Guild of America & SAG-AFTRA. He is also a writer. In 2016 an article he co-wrote about the life of Sam Rayburn’s “lady friend” Margaret Fallon Palmer, widow of former U.S. Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer, was published by the scholarly journal Southwestern Historical Quarterly.
